Using high-resolution satellite data from the Beijing 3 satellite and aerial imagery from unmanned aerial vehicles, the National Institute for Natural Disaster Prevention and control determined the scope of the Jintian Uprising sand rush disaster caused by the magnitude 6.2 Jishishan earthquake in Gansu province, compared with the remote sensing images before the earthquake, the number of buildings damaged, the length of road damaged and the damage of iron tower caused by the sand surge disaster are obtained, covering an area of about 500,000 m 2, more than 60 buildings were submerged, various grade roads were damaged 3.378 km, canals were damaged 1,310 m, and one iron tower was damaged.
